On October 15, 1997, the Federal Administrative Court of Germany found that the Jewish Congregation Adass Yisroel, Berlin (Public Corporation) did not cease to exist under either the National Socialist regime or in the aftermath of the Second World War. The Federal Administrative Court declared the identity (not the »legal succession«) of Adass Yisroel as well as its legitimate, unbroken continuity as a public corporation from 1885 until the present day.
With this ruling, a more than ten-year old dispute between the State of Berlin and the Congregation Adass Yisroel came to an end.
