Not forgotten – Not forgiven

Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day

Holocaust Martyrs ‘and Heroes’ Remembrance Day is dedicated to remember the victims of the Holocaust – this inconceivable crime that Nazi Germany and their aides from other countries inflicted on the Jewish people. The day is also dedicated to commemorating the deeds of heroism and rebellion against the oppressors in those days.

The day is commemorated every year on the 27th of Nisan or near this date. This year is takes place from the eve of Wednesday, 7 April to the eve of Thursday, 8 April 2021.

The purpose of this Memorial Day is to uphold the “Remember – Do Not Forget” order. It is our duty that under no circumstances will we forget the murder of European Jewry, Libya and North Africa. On this day too we remember the victims and tell their story as well as those of the survivors.

We cannot forgive. Only the dead could forgive. Our duty is to remember.
